OlaFerry is a contribution by Lluís Enric Mayans, an SEO and web developer born and living in Formentera. This route is not a case study: it is the crossing I make myself, and the one my neighbours make every day to get to work, to the doctor or to the airport.
Why OlaFerry exists
Finding out when the next boat leaves between Ibiza and Formentera was harder than it should be. Each operator publishes its own timetable separately, on its own site and in its own way, and none of them tells you the one thing that matters once you are at the port: which boat leaves next, whoever runs it.
OlaFerry puts all four timetables in a single list, in both directions, and cross-checks them against what the boats are actually doing. It also shows the weather and the sea state for each crossing, because with an easterly wind, sailing at eight is not the same as sailing at two: half an hour of rough sea can ruin the first day of a holiday.
Where the data comes from
Departures come from the port calls published by the Balearic Port Authority, the official record of what happens in the ports of Eivissa and La Savina. Sea state and weather come from Open-Meteo, using NOAA forecast models. Nothing is written by hand: if an operator swaps a boat, it shows up here on its own.
OlaFerry does not sell tickets, takes no commission and is not affiliated with any operator. When a position is an estimate rather than a real AIS reading, the card says so. And if something here does not match what you can see from the quay, I want to know: write to me.
